Lives Positively Impacted
Years Of Service to Zambian Communities
KYEYA means "light" in the Kaonde Language of Northwestern Zambia.
Kyeya Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Zambia registered under the societies Act Cap 119 of the laws of Zambia on 2nd March 2022. Registration number ORS/102/35/28375. Founded in 2010, Kyeya Foundation was born from a simple yet powerful vision - to uplift and enable communities through sustainable, homegrown development. Kyeya’s intentions and actions are deeply rooted in the belief that lasting change begins within communities. We do not impose solutions. We ignite potential within communities to make them self-sustaining. Our work is embedded in collaboration, respect for Indigenous knowledge, and a commitment to building skills and systems that foster sustainable self-reliance. What began as a small team of passionate volunteers focused on community projects has evolved into a dynamic force for positive change. Today, Kyeya Foundation proudly impacts thousands of lives across Zambia, delivering hope, change, opportunity, and empowerment where it is most needed. Together, with the communities we serve, we are not just imagining a better future, we are building it.
Our mission is to empower and enable Zambian communities through inclusive, sustainable development that regenerates and protects the environment in which people live, and work. We strive to unlock local potential by fostering collaboration, honouring traditional knowledge, educating, and building resilient systems that support self-reliance, dignity, safety, and lasting positive transformation.
Our vision is that of empowered, self-reliant communities across Zambia that thrive thanks to sustainable development which is driven by best practice, local knowledge, strong expertise and innovation, and unity.
The principles that guide everything we do at Kyeya Foundation
We believe in unlocking the potential that exists within communities by providing the skills, tools and opportunities needed for self-sufficiency and growth.
We work hand-in-hand with communities, partners, and stakeholders to foster strong relationships that are built upon mutual respect, and a shared purpose.
We honour traditional wisdom and local experiences, and by integrating them into sustainable solutions that use proven technology and best practices, they resonate with the people we serve.
Transparent. Accountable. Ethical. We uphold the highest standards in all we do.
We embrace creative, locally-driven solutions that address challenges in dynamic and meaningful ways.
We are committed to ensuring that all voices are heard, and that our programs uplift people regardless of gender, age, or background.
We design and implement programs that ensure long-term positive impact to reduce dependency, whilst building resilient and prosperous communities.
