Daniel Soka Bwalya

Daniel Soka Bwalya

Chairman

Daniel is a committed social development practitioner and the current Chairman of the Kyeya Foundation. With a strong background in community engagement and development, he has built a career centered on bridging social and economic gaps within Zambian society.

He previously served with Ms Zambia, a program supported by the Danish Association for International Cooperation (MS Zambia), where he specialized in social development work. His role focused on fostering inclusivity between low-income and middle-to-high-income communities.

Under his leadership at Kyeya Foundation, the organization is actively working to reverse dangerous trends like underage children and breastfeeding mothers working under hazardous conditions at the Chunga dumpsite by identifying sustainable, income-generating alternatives.

Mubyana Muyangwa

Mubyana Muyangwa

Vice Chair

Mubyana is a Zambian climate justice and development specialist with over 20 years of experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), environmental management, and community development. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Climate Justice at Glasgow Caledonian University, focusing on the role of social innovation in water resilience.

He has worked extensively with national and international organizations, including UNICEF, the World Bank (via PwC), IFAD, Danida, and Democracy Works Foundation. His expertise spans climate change adaptation, integrated water resource management (IWRM), social impact evaluation, and capacity building.

Susan Kapitolo

Susan Kapitolo

Executive Director/Board Member

Susan is a passionate community advocate and development worker currently pursuing a Master's degree in Climate Change. With a strong commitment to social justice and sustainable development, she has actively worked with refugee communities in Meheba, gaining firsthand experience in humanitarian support and resilience-building.

Her professional focus is in the area of Social Welfare & Support Services, where she leads and contributes to several key programs including Food and Shelter Programs, Financial Aid Assistance, and Disability & Elderly Support initiatives.

Chilombo Yvonne Musende

Chilombo Yvonne Musende

Finance and Logistics

Chilombo is a dedicated development practitioner at Kyeya Foundation, where she plays a key role in advancing climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and community empowerment programs.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies and has a background in Accounting. Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Climate Change and Sustainability, her research focuses on how Zambia can leverage carbon credit systems to unlock climate finance, empower rural communities, and promote sustainable livelihoods.

At Kyeya Foundation, Chilombo contributes to the organization's mission to "provide and enhance the capability of children, youth, men, and women in Zambia to effect positive social change that would necessitate the development of their lives."

Doreen Musonda Nakapizye

Doreen Musonda Nakapizye

Media & Development Policy Specialist

Doreen is a Zambian media and development policy specialist with 25 years in the media sector and over 9 years in management. She brings a wealth of expertise in crafting impactful communication strategies, producing engaging educational content, and ensuring clear and effective reporting.

Her background in public relations and media liaison is invaluable in amplifying Kyeya's message, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and fostering community engagement. With a Master's in Media and Corporate Communication and an Executive Diploma in Development Policies and Practices, she bridges the gap between information dissemination and tangible community progress.

Doreen is adept at leading teams, managing sensitive information with cultural awareness, and fostering collaborative environments to achieve meaningful outcomes for communities.

Jean-Cluadius Kalumba

Board Member

Jean-Claudius is a seasoned Business Administrator and Community Development Professional with over two decades of experience in construction, commodity trading, and logistics. He currently leads a skilled team focused on infrastructure development and logistical operations, blending practical business leadership with a strong foundation in strategic planning, financial management, and innovation. He is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Lusaka and holds an Executive Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance, along with a Certificate in Design Thinking and Innovation from Edubex University. Passionate about social impact, Jean-Claudius is committed to addressing critical challenges such as child development, education access, the elimination of child labor and early marriages, and poverty alleviation through sustainable initiatives. His work actively supports climate change mitigation and environmental conservation, especially through community-based and climate-resilient infrastructure projects. He serves as a board member of the Kyeya Foundation, where he contributes to grassroots solutions that uplift both rural and urban communities. By combining business acumen with social advocacy, Jean-Claudius champions transformative change that empowers individuals and strengthens communities. His career reflects a deep commitment to sustainable development, inclusive growth, and creating long-lasting impact through education, economic empowerment, and environmentally responsible practices.

David Salupa Tawila

David Salupa Tawila

Board Member

David is a Zambian entrepreneur and business leader with extensive experience in corporate management, strategy, and community-focused development. He currently serves as Chairman of Tawila Capital Resources Limited, where he leads board governance, strategic planning, and stakeholder coordination.

Since 2016, he has also served as Chief Executive Officer of Zambia Universal Quarry Limited, where he oversees operations, profitability, and sustainable business growth. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma in Business Management, with a background in Economics.

Chongo Ricky Chikonde

Board Member

Chongo is a Zambian entrepreneur with a background in Business Administration. He is the Director of Mineral Junxion and Transport (Z) Limited, a company specializing in logistics and mineral trading.

Mr. Chikonde serves as a Board Member of the Kyeya Foundation, where he supports initiatives focused on community development, youth empowerment, and sustainability. Additionally, he is a Board Member of BlueSky Alliance, contributing his leadership and strategic insight to various innovative and impact-driven projects.

Mwila Mwansa

Mwila Mwansa

Board Secretary

Mwila is a motivated environmental educationalist with vast experience in environmental research and project production. Passionate about caring for the environment and the communities they represent, Mwila possesses deep understanding of environmental conservation and policy formulation.

At Kyeya Foundation, Mwila contributes to projects that promote sustainable environmental practices and educates communities about conservation efforts that can improve their livelihoods while protecting natural resources.

Katie McPhilimey

Trustee

With a 2:1 Hons degree in Computer Science & Economics as well as strong marketing communications qualifications, Katie has worked for, and advised, many profiled brands and companies including the BBC, NTL, and Jaguar Land Rover's prestigious Academy of Sport.

Travelling the world on special projects for a leading manufacturer, Katie has spearheaded deals in Korea, South Africa, Europe, and the USA. Former Founding Editor of the largest regional magazines in the UK and presenter of a weekly TV show on Sky 191 for several years, Katie's media experience extends beyond presenting to advising people who find themselves in front of the camera.

Today, Katie owns a successful marketing communications company and brings her expertise to support Kyeya Foundation's outreach efforts.

William Simpson

Having secured Mechanical Engineering qualifications, William moved into the world of transport providing logistics to major businesses across Europe before becoming one of the leading truck dealers supplying not just trucks, but also plant machinery, and parts to various countries, with his main focus being the African continent and in particular Zambia.

Via his company Truck Sales Limited William was the lead supplier to Zambeef for over 20 years. Invested in Zambia, William has funded various community projects from anti-poaching to building schools and divides his time between Zambia and the UK.

William brings his extensive logistics expertise to support Kyeya Foundation's operations and infrastructure projects.

Grace Nakapizye Banda

Programs Officer

With over 24 years of experience in Zambia’s public health sector, I am a results-driven Clinical Officer General and Public Health Professional with a strong record in health systems strengthening, community engagement, and program leadership. I hold a Master’s degree in Public Health Promotion from Leeds Beckett University and have led high-impact initiatives in HIV care, TB control, epidemic response, and youth-centered health services. My professional journey reflects a deep commitment to improving the lives of underserved communities through strategic planning, mentorship, and capacity building. I bring to KYEYA a unique blend of clinical expertise and grassroots experience, with a focus on empowering communities and youth through education, behavioral change, and sustainable development. My work has consistently involved collaboration with government agencies, development partners, and community-based structures—experience that directly supports KYEYA’s integrated approach to environmental conservation and youth empowerment. I am particularly passionate about climate change adaptation, environmental education, and fostering resilient communities through cross-cutting initiatives that address both public health and ecological well-being. As a KYEYA member, I am dedicated to contributing strategic insight, governance oversight, and advocacy support to KYEYA’s mission. I believe in nurturing youth potential and facilitating innovative programs in waste management, reforestation, and climate action, ensuring that our work leaves a lasting impact for future generations.

Victor is a seasoned media and communications expert at Kyeya Foundation, bringing with him over two decades of extensive experience in journalism, television production, public relations, and government communications.

His career spans across various reputable institutions including the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS). Victor graduated from Mulungushi University and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi with qualifications in Development Journalism, Communications and Public Relations.

A member of the Media Institute of Southern Africa and the Media Network on Children's Rights, Victor's core skills include television scripting, filming, video editing, investigative reporting, and public communication.
