About Kyeya

Our Story

KYEYA means "light" in the Kaonde Language of Northwestern Zambia.

Kyeya Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Zambia registered under the societies Act Cap 119 of the laws of Zambia on 2nd March 2022. Registration number ORS/102/35/28375. Founded in 2010, Kyeya Foundation was born from a simple yet powerful vision - to uplift and enable communities through sustainable, homegrown development. Kyeya’s intentions and actions are deeply rooted in the belief that lasting change begins within communities. We do not impose solutions. We ignite potential within communities to make them self-sustaining. Our work is embedded in collaboration, respect for Indigenous knowledge, and a commitment to building skills and systems that foster sustainable self-reliance. What began as a small team of passionate volunteers focused on community projects has evolved into a dynamic force for positive change. Today, Kyeya Foundation proudly impacts thousands of lives across Zambia, delivering hope, change, opportunity, and empowerment where it is most needed. Together, with the communities we serve, we are not just imagining a better future, we are building it.
